The Nissan Altima Hybrid has been a popular consumer car for the last several years since it’s inception in late 2007. The hybrid was touched up however, like the rest of the Nissan Altima line up, in 2010. Among some of the changes are the 16-inch aluminum alloy hub caps and a few new paint jobs. Many people believe it is more attractive than other economic hybrid vehicles such as the Camry.

The performance of the Nissan Altima Hybrid is largely unchanged, with about 158 horsepower and an electric motor that produces the standard 40 horsepower that can be found in almost any other electric motor. The hybrid engine is combined with a variable transmission that is liked by ma y and disputed by some. The transmission can be smooth, or it can be linear, depending upon how it is used.

Nissan is currently in the process of developing it’s own hybrid technology, which is somewhat apparent when trying to switch from electric to gasoline mode. Nonetheless, Nissan maintains that the car can reach speeds of 40 miles per hour on electric power alone, which is somewhat impressive considering the limited power produced by electric motors. Most importantly, the Nissan Altima Hybrid gets an impressive gas mileage of about 35 mpg. With the reliability of the Nissan Altima line and the amount of savings consumers are receiving with the improved gas mileage, it is easy to see why the Nissan Altima Hybrid has been garnering so much attention recently.
